Obituary of Marianna Stracquadanio

Marianna Stracquadanio, 95, of Manalapan, NJ passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.  Marianna was born, raised, and had lived in Ragusa, Sicily, Italy.  Along with her family, she immigrated to the United States in 1966 settling in Brooklyn, NY.  She moved to the Covered Bridge Community, Manalapan, NJ in 2002.  Marianna retired from the I.L.G.W.U. in Brooklyn as a seamstress.  Her work trickled into her home life, always hemming, fixing, or making things for her family.  Tied up in her Italian stories, Marianna relished her time watching them and letting everyone know what was going on.  She was an amazing cook and would wake up early to start the process.  Yet all those things were not as important as the time that she spent with her family.

Marianna was predeceased by her husband, Carmelo and siblings, Jerry Schembari, Salvatore Schembari and Concetta Sgarioto.  She is survived by three sons, Ignazio Stracquadanio and his wife, Grace of Syosset, NY, Vincent Stracquadanio and his wife, Karen of Queens, and John Stracquadanio and his wife, Geri of Marlboro; grandchildren, Marianne Esposito and her husband, Michael, Vincent Stracquadanio, Jr., Daniel Stracquadanio, Julia Stracquadanio and John Stracquadanio; two great grandchildren, David and Claire; a brother, Emanuele Schembari and his wife, Gina of Staten Island; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, NJ on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:30 AM Funeral Mass on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township, NJ.  Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, 361 Sharrott Ave, Staten Island, NY.  For those who desire memorial contributions in Marianna’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
