Obituary of Phyllis Rago

Phyllis Rago, 85 of Jackson, passed away on June 9, 2023, at Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus, Lakewood. She was born and raised in the Carroll Gardens neighborhood of Brooklyn and had lived in Staten Island before settling in Jackson in 1997. Phyllis and her husband, Joseph would spend their winters in Cape Coral, Florida and would look forward to their weekly trips to Atlantic City. Phyllis loved playing the slots and Bingo at Holiday City in Toms River. She would express her love to others by cooking for them. Phyllis never got tired of saying that her greatest rewards were her children and grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure.

She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Rago; daughter, Roseann Ditre and brother, Frank Lauro. Phyllis is survived by her two sons, Vincent Rago and his wife, Theresa of Long Branch and John Rago and his wife, Patricia of Matawan; 8 grandchildren, Jenn Bunnicelli and her wife, Randi, Joseph Rago and his wife, Toni, Krista Ditre, Melissa Rago, Andrea Rago, Tommy Ditre, Brittany Swayze and her husband, Matthew, AlexaRose Starkey and her husband, Jeremy; seven great grandchildren, Adalynn, Brayden,Colton,Audrina,Elianna,Sophia and Jack; brother, Anthony Lauro.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 AM Funeral Mass on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at St. Gabriel Roman Catholic Church, 100 North Main Street, Marlboro, NJ 07746. Entombment will follow at St Gabriel's Cemetery & Chapel Mausoleums, 549 County Road 520, Marlboro, NJ 07746.
