Obituary of Mary Louise Layton

Mary Louise Layton, 77, of Farmingdale passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township.  Mary was born and raised in Baltimore, MD and was a longtime Farmingdale resident.  She was a woman of strong faith watched the weekly Sunday service of the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine with her family.  Mary was also a former Girl Scout Leader and member of the Ardena PTA.  Most recently, she became a member of the Farmingdale Historical Society.  Mary relished the thrill of travel, especially cruises.  She traveled to many places with her beloved husband, daughter, close friends and family on various vacations.  Walt Disney World was a special place for her and her daughter, Melissa.  She also loved gambling especially in Atlantic City yet she always knew when it was time to come home.   Being home with family and friends was where her heart was. Mary loved watching the birds, deer and other wild animals that came from thru her yard.  If there were babies or animals around you knew where she would be.  She was a loving wife of 57 years, adoring mother, dear sister, caring aunt and friend to many. 

Mary is survived by her husband, Raymond Layton; her daughter, Melissa Layton; siblings, Buzzy Dice and his wife, Carol and Pat Jenkins; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families and her beloved cat, Benny. 

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 3:00 to 6:30 PM with her funeral service to follow at 6:30 PM.  Interment will be private.  For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to Jersey Shore Animal Foundation.   For information, directions, or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com.
