Obituary of Eileen Hanick

Eileen Hanick, 86, of Howell passed away at CentraState Medical Center on Wednesday, July 6, 2023.  She was born in Perth Amboy and was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School’s Class of 1955.  Upon graduating, Eileen worked at First Bank and Trust Company as a bookkeeper.  She moved to Fords in 1959 and married John R. Hanick.  Eileen went on to work as a secretary at Roosevelt Hospital in Edison and the JFK Foundation in Edison.  She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her children, traveling, and participating in her women’s club.  Eileen volunteered for the Catholic Charities and was a member of Sisters of Mercy, Plainfield.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the loving staff of DCI of Freehold, for their longstanding care and commitment to Eileen.

Eileen was predeceased by her son, John C. Hanick in 2003; her parents, Frank and Elsie Kenny; and her brothers, Richard and Robert “Butch” Kenny.  She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, John; son David Hanick and his wife, Yerlis of Howell; daughter Jacquelyn Anderson and her husband, Robert of Forked River; sister, Jean Ann Kenny, brother, James Kenny and his wife, Helene; sisters in law, Dolores and Brenda Kenny and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, July 10, 2023, from 2:00 to 5:30 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 for her procession to Ocean County Memorial Park Cemetery, 1722 Silverton Road, Toms River. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Eileen’s name may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33^rd Street, New York, NY, 10016 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.  In honor of Eileen, the family requests that those who are willing consider giving the gift of life by registering as an organ and tissue donor with the New Jersey Sharing Network.
