Obituary of John L. Hughes

John L. Hughes, 81, of Howell passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at The Manor, Freehold. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, had lived in France and Germany while serving in the United States Air Force, and settled to Howell in 2000. John was a devoted Lector at his church in Brooklyn and was a blood donation volunteer for the Red Cross. He then worked in Cargo Sales for Air France in Queens, New York for over 38 years. Dedicated to his faith, John also served on the Parish Council at Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Mary Hughes; stepfather, William Starkey; and brother-in-law, Peter Ruggeri. John is survived by his loving sister, Mary Ruggeri.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:30 AM Memorial Mass on Monday, July 31, 2023 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
