Obituary of Antonio L. Almeida

Antonio L. Almeida, 97, of Toms River passed away at his daughter’s home on Saturday, August 12, 2023.  Born in Alcains, Portugal, Antonio came to the United States in 1960 and settled in Newark.  He later moved to Kearny and eventually settled in Toms River in 1985.   Antonio worked as an electrician for the East Orange VA Medical Center for over 25 years.  He was an avid golfer, a beloved father, and a loving grandfather. 

Antonio was predeceased by his wife, Maria de Lourdes Almeida in 1952; his second wife, Maria F. Almeida in 1995; and third wife, Idalina Almeida in 2022.  He is survived by his loving daughter, Maria Ammiano and her husband, Anthony; and grandson A. J. Ammiano and his wife, Justine, all of Freehold Township. 

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.  Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Antonio’s name may be made to the VNA Healthgroup Foundation, 23 Main Street, Suite D1, Holmdel, NJ 07733.  For information, directions or to leave condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
