Obituary of BettyLou Dorum

BettyLou Dorum 86 of Lawrenceville passed away peacefully at home on Thursday August 24th 2023.  BettyLou was born in Long Branch and had lived in Neptune, Hightstown, East Windsor and Jackson prior to moving to Lawrenceville in 2016.  She retired as a bookkeeper for Humphreys and Kosek Accounting in Hightstown in 2002. Prior to that, she was a bookkeeper at Dawson Corporation in Jackson. BettyLou had a green thumb for gardening and a keen eye for capturing animals in her paintings. BettyLou relished her time putting together jigsaw puzzles with her husband and daughter.  She was a former member of the East Windsor Rescue Squad, District 1, with over 20 years of dedicated service.  Most recently, BettyLou was an active member of the Lawrenceville Senior Center where she enjoyed activities with her dear friends.  Yet nothing compared to her faith.  BettyLou was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Princeton.

BettyLou was predeceased by her husband, Sidney L. “Mitch” Dorum; her parents, Charles C. and Beatrice Mount Stricklin; and her sister, Jean May Timmerman.  She is survived by her daughter, Diane L. Coleman of Ewing; and her sisters, Charlotte June Scaggs Wheeler of Vero Beach, FL and Ruth Ann Hopkins of Outer Banks, NC. 

A visitation will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 901 Canal Pointe Boulevard, Princeton on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:00 Funeral Service at the church on Saturday, September 9, 2023.  Interment will follow in Adelphia Cemetery, Adelphia.  For information, directions or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
