Obituary of Kevin T. McMahon
Kevin T. McMahon, 62, of Freehold Township passed away surrounded by many family members and friends on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at CentraState Medical Center. Kevin grew up in a loving and well-known family. The only boy in the McMahon family, Kevin was adored by all of his sisters. A lifelong resident of Freehold Township, he graduated from the Township High School in 1979. His father owned a clothing store in Colts Neck and he worked there for a number of years. Kevin then worked in the automotive industry for years, most recently for API in Morganville. He was an avid NASCAR fan whose favorite driver was Martin Truex, Jr. and enjoyed spending time at Wall Stadium where he was on Harry Reed’s pit crew for Pistol Pete Brittain.
Kevin began dating Bonnie Janczewski in the summer of 1980 and they shared a lifelong love. Bonnie and Kevin married in 1987 and in 1991 their daughter Katelyne was born making their family complete.
As with all of his relationships, Kevin met and made friends easily. The friendships that started in the 70s remain strong and true to this day. He will be remembered for all the heart and laughter he shared with his friends and family.
Kevin was a kind soul, always courteous and respectful with a wonderful personality. He loved his puns and was a jokester right up until the end. Kevin didn’t leave you with just a smile and a chuckle but with genuine laughter. He battled cancer with all his might for his family, and when his time came he went with dignity and strength.
Kevin was predeceased by his father, Thomas J. McMahon; his in-laws, Stanley “Stosh” and Deanie Janczewski; his niece, Lindsey Reyelt; his nephew, Timothy Janczewski; and his sister, Sharon McMahon. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Bonnie McMahon; daughter, Katelyne Lehrer and her husband, Matthew of Aurora, CO; mother, Louise McMahon of Freehold Township; sisters, Sandy Lewis and her husband, Keith of Freehold Township, Mary Mauro and her husband, Michael of Lincroft, Maureen Reyelt and her husband, Ken of Apopka, FL, Karen Murphy and her husband, Jim of Annandale, and Marion Kane and her husband, COL.
