Obituary of Salvatore Buono

Salvatore Buono 68, of Howell Township passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.  He was born in Italy and was raised in Orange and had lived in West Orange before settling to Howell in 1987.  Salvatore was a police officer for the Township of Orange for 28 years retiring in 2001, After his retirement he became a school bus driver for the Howell Township Board of Education retiring in 2021. Always active, Salvatore never missed an opportunity to teach his 6 grandsons how to play sports. He was a referee at NJFOA for over 20 years. Salvatore was the heart and soul of his family. He will be remembered for his graciousness, integrity, and humor.  

Salvatore was predeceased by his parents, Remigio and Carmela Buono; sister, Gina Buono and brother, Angelo Buono. He is survived by his wife, Janice Buono of Howell; four children, Christina Lisi and her husband, Anthony of Howell, Salvatore Buono, Jr and his wife, Melissa of North Carolina, Jennifer Buono and her fiancé, John Dunn of Jackson and Gina Hager and her husband, Daniel of Howell; Six grandsons, Anthony, Nicholas, Aiden, Dominic, Owen and Theodore; brother, Alvin Buono and his wife, Roseann and Louisa Tortorella and her husband, Alfred.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, October 15, 2023, from 2:00 to 5:30 PM with his funeral service to follow.  Interment will be private.
