Obituary of Ignazio Greco
Ignazio “Zino” Greco, 62, of Freehold Township passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at ExcelCare at Manalapan. He was born and raised in the Bronx, and had lived in New York City and Tampa, FL before settling here. Zino received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Pace University in their four year accelerated business program. He started his working career for Mutual of NY Insurance, then AIG in Neptune as Senior Vice President, ultimately becoming Executive Vice President at MetLife, NYC from 1997-2018. Zino was fluent in Italian and a member of the Italian American Club at The Riviera. Well traveled, he has visited numerous countries around the world. Zino enjoyed playing the guitar and was an avid collector of cigars, coins and a connoisseur of fine wines. With a passion for boating, he obtained his captain’s license and relished his time on the Manasquan River, most recently on the “Summer Wind”. Zino was a car enthusiast and owned a ‘57 Chevy Belair and a ‘75 Cadillac El Dorado. Known to some as “Papa Z”, he was loved by all.
Zino is survived by his son, Chris Greco and his wife, Bridget of Freehold Township; daughter, Gabriella Greco and her husband, Gerard of Freehold Township; three grandchildren, Shaylee, Brinlee and Easton; two sisters, AnnaMaria Callan and her husband, Frank of Farmingdale, NY and Carmela Salluce and her husband, Frank of Long Beach Island; nephews and nieces, Frank Callan, Jr. and his wife, Kay, Julia Amendolara and her husband, Nick and Luca Salluce; and former wives, Denise Barbaro and Angela Verdesco-Greco.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, October 22, 2023 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 9:30 AM for the procession to his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
