Obituary of Esek Hopkins
Esek W. "Hoppy" Hopkins, 82, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 surrounded by his family . He was born in Hartford, Connecticut and had lived in Wall Township, Bradley Beach and Florida before moving to Howell Township 12 years ago. Hoppy was a United States Navy veteran serving during the Korean War. Esek worked as an insurance sales manager for Prudential, Toms River District for 23 years, retiring in 1987. He was also a former Bradley Beach Police Officer.
He was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn Thorpe. Esek is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lois E. Hopkins, Farmingdale, NJ; one daughter, Linda Stauffer and her husband, Grant, Farmingdale, NJ; one son, William T Hopkins and his wife, Myrle, Atlanta, Georgia; four grandchildren, Jennifer Bondarew, Grant Stauffer, Jr., Pam Ellison and William Hopkins, Jr.; twelve great grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Herbert Thorpe, Arizona.
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, (Route 524) Freehold Township on Saturday, December 3, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon followed by his funeral service at 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Interment at Monmouth Memorial Park Cemetery, Tinton Falls.
