Obituary of Nettie Carillo

Nettie Carillo, 89, of Tinton Falls passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20th, 2023 at Seabrook Village in Tinton Falls. Nettie was born, raised and lived her whole life in Brooklyn until moving to Manchester in 2004. She moved to Seabrook Village in 2018.

Nettie retired as an Administrative Supervisor for Chadborne, Park, Whiteside and Wolf Law Firm in 1998. Prior to that, she was the receptionist at The Cut-Away hair salon in Brooklyn. A woman of faith, she was a former parishioner of the Most Precious Blood Church, a past president and former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Agnes Seminary, and a member of the prayer group at St. Athanasius Church, all of Brooklyn. Being a city girl, Nettie had a passion for fine dining and the arts which included going to the theatre, movies, and concerts. Her taste in music spanned the symphony, Italian classics and 70’s R&B. She also found great pleasure in the art of cooking and entertaining.  Yet most of all family was the most important thing to her.

Nettie was predeceased by her husband, Francis X. Carillo; her parents, Ciro “Charlie” and Treana “Mary” Graffeo; sister, Theresa Schifilliti and her husband Anthony Schifilliti; her in-laws, Robert and Marie Carillo; her brother in-law John Messina; her nephew John Messina Jr and a son-in-law, Salvatore Calabro (who died heroically on September 11, 2001). She leaves behind to morn her loss her two daughters, Marie Parker and her husband, Richard of Alexandria, VA, Francine Calabro and her husband, Richard Seegobin of Farmingdale; four grandchildren, Daniel Calabro, A.J. Calabro, Christopher Seegobin and Treana Seegobin; her Sister-in-law Marie “Jo” Messina; nephew Robert Messina, nieces Joanne Messina, Corinne Sideli and her husband James.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, October 29, 2023 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.  Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 10:00 AM for the procession to her 11:00 AM Funeral Mass  at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 31 Asbury Avenue, Farmingdale.  Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.  For those who desire, memorial contribution may be made to The Jersey Shore Walk To End Hydrocephalus c/o the Hydrocephalus Association, 4340 East West Highway, Suite 905, Bethesda, MD 20814-4447 or HERE.  For information, directions or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com.
