Obituary of Giovanni Lagonigro
Giovanni Lagonigro, 90, of Freehold Township passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023 at CentraState Medical Center. Born and raised in Italy, Giovanni immigrated to the United States in 1960 settling in Brooklyn where he remained until relocating to Freehold two years ago. He was a man with many talents and loved making wine, sausage and sauce and enjoyed tending to his garden. Giovanni was very handy with home improvements and was known to lend his skills and a helping hand to his family. He was a giving and generous man as well as a wonderful storyteller. His grandchildren were his greatest treasure and he loved cheering them on in whatever activities they were involved in.
Giovanni was predeceased by his brother, Francesco Lagonigro; and his sister, Sr. Lucia Lagonigro. He is survived by his loving wife, Lucia Lagonigro of Freehold Township; two daughters, Maria Lagonigro and her husband, John Armenia of Freehold and Christina Lardin of Nanuet, NY; and three grandsons, Jake, Ryan and Daniel.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at The Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2992 Avenue S, Brooklyn, NY. Entombment will follow in St. Charles / Resurrection Cemetery, 2015 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY.
