Obituary of Patricia D. Gray
Patricia D. Gray, 92, of Freehold passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Monmouth Crossing Assisted Living, Freehold. She was born and raised in Mount Vernon, New York, had lived in Manhattan for most of her adult life, and settled in Freehold, NJ in 2021. Patricia graduated with a BS from St. Lawrence University before attending Smith College of Social Work where she got her Masters degree. Patricia worked as a Social Worker for many years for the Westchester County Department of Social Services Adoption Unit where she brought together many happy and grateful families. She then went on to work as a Director at The Children’s Aid Society while living in Manhattan where she continued to help and support so many children and families until her retirement. She enjoyed attending and supporting many cultural institutions in Manhattan and sharing the culture and arts with her many nieces and nephews. Patricia will be missed by her family and the many friends she made throughout her life. One of the great joys in her life was spending time in her home at Fire Island and all the fun times she shared with her friends and family. Above all, Patricia will be remembered for her generous nature that she carried throughout her life.
She was predeceased by her sister, Joan Gray Sloan. Patricia is survived by her nieces and nephews, Lucinda Cadigan and her husband, Lloyd of Millstone Township, NJ, Kathryn Cizek and her husband, Randy of Avon, CT, Christopher Sloan and his wife, Nina of Florida, Susan Powers and her husband, Andy of Stewartsville, NJ, and Lisa Benney and her husband, Tom of Maryland; great nieces and nephews, Matthew, Erin, Connor, Kenny, Kimmy, Cooper, Rebecca, Olivia, Jacqueline, Jessica, and Chelsea; and great great nieces and nephews, Mavis, Nova, Jack, Charlie, Timmy, and Mason.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 12:30 to 2:30 PM with her memorial service to begin at 2:30 PM.
