Obituary of Jane E. Oates

Jane E. Oates, 81, of Howell passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2023 surrounded by her family. Jane was born in Somerville, NJ and raised on Giralda Farms, the Giraldine-Rockefeller Estate in Madison. She then moved to Newark and worked in the healthcare field where she met her husband on the hospital floor. They married and left Newark, moving to Howell Township in 1967 to raise their children. Jane relished in her time walking the beach, especially in Ocean Grove looking for sea glass and sand dollars. She also took drives to her special place, Pottersville, NJ visiting family. Jane was a devoted wife of 56 years, a loving mother, and doting grand and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Henry Oates and a sister, Phyllis Condon and her husband, Gerald. Jane is survived by her children, Joseph Michael Oates and his wife, Cheryl of Yuba City, California, John Michael Oates III and his wife, Debbie of Port Orchard, Washington, and Joann Marie Oates of Valrico, FL; grandchildren, Brendan Oates, Tanner Oates, Riley Oates, Melanie Russum and her husband, Ben, Michael Brown and his wife, Nichol, Kevin Oates and his fiancée, Jessica Scheidt, and David Olivo; six great-grandchildren; Lucas, Julian, Breanna, Conner, JT, and Riley, her nieces and nephews, Jeannette Fraulo and her husband, Vic, Gerald Condon and his wife, Diane, Michael Condon, and William Condon and his wife, Anne. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service in the mausoleum chapel at Somerset Hills Memorial Park & Chapel Mausoleum, 95 Mount Airy Road, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM.
