Obituary of George E. Gonzalez
George E. Gonzalez, 71, of Howell passed away with his loved ones by his side on Thursday, November 9, 2023. He was born in New York City and resided in Staten Island before settling in Howell in 1979. George worked for UPS as a truck driver for over 35 years, He was often referred to over the CB radio as “Hammer”. George was a man of many talents which included woodworking, working on cars, and building furniture. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family, friends, and neighbors. He never missed a sporting event for his grandchildren and was a constant fixture on the sidelines, he was their biggest cheerleader and fan. George will be remembered by his grandchildren not only as the Best Pa but the man who could fix it all. More than anything in the world, he treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren, especially vacationing and the fun times on his boat “Speedy G”.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Isabel Gonzalez; and his granddaughter, Ava Gonzalez. George is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judith Gonzalez; two sons, George Gonzalez and his wife, Erin of Howell, and Eric Gonzalez and his wife, Meghan of Brick; five grandchildren, Weston, Matthew, Owen, Emma and Ruby; and siblings, Carol Gonzalez of Staten Island, and John Gonzalez also of Staten Island and Melba Mitchell of Forked River.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM Funeral Mass on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, 100 North Main Street, Marlboro.
