Obituary of John L. Besignano

John L. Besignano, 85, of Freehold passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born and raised in Staten Island and came to New Jersey in 1985. John then lived in Rotunda West, Florida from 2005 until 2017 and later moved to Manchester before settling in Freehold in 2022. The highlight of John’s life was working for FDNY and Becoming a Captain until he retired in 1982. John had a boat, “The Shalimar” that he enjoyed with family and friends for many years. He traveled with his late wife, Chickie, in an RV taking many trips around the country to visit various friends and family. John loved dogs, building things, golfing, fishing, gardening, and above all being with family. 

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Geraldine “Chickie” Besignano; and daughter-in-law, Denise Besignano. John is survived by his children, John Besignano, Dianne Kreft and her husband, James, Michael Besignano and his wife, Stephanie, and Steven Besignano; 9 grandchildren, John, Joseph, Desiree, Michael, Christina, James, Emma, Jenna and Nicholas; 4 great-grandchildren, Gia, Alina, Michael and Royce; siblings, Joseph Besignano and Raymond Besignano; and sister-in-law, Katherine Besignano along with many nieces and nephews that he loved.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, November 20, 2023, from 2:00 to 5:30 PM with his memorial service to begin at 5:30 PM.
