Thomas Karecky

Obituary of Thomas K. Karecky

Thomas Karecky, 86, of Freehold passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, November 13, 2023.  Thomas was born and raised in Bayonne.  He was a United States Army veteran serving in Abilene, Texas as a Military Police security dog trainer.  During his time in the Army, Thomas also worked on a ranch and married the love of his life, a girl from Jersey City named, Helen.  Together, they left Texas, moved to Holmdel and then in 1969 settled in Freehold.  Thomas retired as a tractor trailer driver for United Parcel Service in Tinton Falls.  Along with his wife, they owned and operated Twin Spruce Farm; breeding, raising and training thoroughbred racehorses.  They raced horses at Monmouth Park and throughout the Northeast.  Before training racehorses, they spent many Saturday nights at Cowtown Rodeo in Woodstown, NJ where they both competed. They often travelled back to Texas, and loved to take day trips to Lancaster, PA.  Thomas held a place in his heart for all his German Shepard’s, which he and Helen had many over the years.  Yet the love he had for his wife, son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren knew no bounds.

He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Karecky and a sister, Irene Karecky.  Thomas is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Helen; a son, Robert Karecky and his wife, Karyn; two granddaughters, Sarah Ryan and her husband, Matthew and Molly Frank; and two great-grandchildren, Harper and Henry.

All arrangements are private at this time by Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township.  For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Warrior Dog Foundation, 5930 Royal Lane, Ste E # 355, Dallas, TX 75230 or HERE.  For information or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
