Obituary of James "Jimmy" Steele

James P. “Jimmy” Steele, 63, of Howell passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 23, 2023.  He was born in Brooklyn and was raised and had lived in Staten Island before settling to Howell in 2003.  Jimmy was a proud member of the NYPD retiring from the 123^rd Precinct after twenty years as a Sergeant.  Through his service in the NYPD he was also a member of the Emerald Society. Jimmy enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family above all else. 

Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, John and Carol Steele.  He is survived by his adoring wife, Susan Steele; daughters, Allison Durazzo and her husband, Kevin of Asbury Park, and Kimberly Steele of Howell; granddaughter, Nina Durazzo; siblings, Jack Steele and his wife, Donna of Staten Island, Eileen Picone and her husband, Frank of Woolwich Township and Kerry Esposito and her husband, Louis of Monroe; mother-in-law, Victoria Ruocco; sister-in-law, Diane Pagano and her husband, Anthony of Middletown, brothers-in-law, Robert Papa and his wife, Celia of Manahawkin and Ralph Ruocco and his wife, Lindsay of Hamilton, MA; and many nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
