Obituary of Anthony J. Calvello
Anthony J. Calvello, 92, of Freehold Township passed away peacefully on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Wedgwood Gardens, Freehold Township. He was born, raised and had lived in Brooklyn, NY before moving to Staten Island, NY. Anthony lived in Bonita Springs, FL and Jackson, NJ before settling here in 2005. He was a graduate of St. John’s University and was a United States Army Veteran. Anthony was a head trader for Continental Bank prior to becoming Chief Operating Officer and Head of Foreign Exchange for Noonan, Astley & Pearce in NYC before his retirement in 1988. He was a parishioner of the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, Freehold Township. In his spare time, Anthony enjoyed visiting the racetrack, following the market on FOX Business and reading Sherlock Holmes novels and stories. He spent a lot of time traveling the world with his wife for business and pleasure.
Anthony was predeceased by his wife, Rose Calvello; and brothers, Joseph Calvello and Louis Calvello. He is survived by his son, Louis Calvello and his wife, Helen of Monroe; a granddaughter, Noelle Calvello of Monroe; and his sister, Phyllis Marino and her husband, Joseph of Columbus.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 9:30 AM for the procession to his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Interment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, 299 Freehold-Englishtown Road, Freehold Township.
