Obituary of Christine E. Turchio

Christine E. Turchio, 56, of Freehold passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023.  Christine was born in Brooklyn and was raised and had lived in the South Beach section of Staten Island.  She had lived in Barnegat before moving to Freehold in 2017.  With a place in her heart for children with special needs, Christine found her calling as a paraprofessional in the Middletown School System.  Just recently, she started volunteering at the Freehold Area Open Door.  Along with her husband, Christine had a passion for vacations.  Yet being a wife, mother, daughter, sister and most importantly a “Nanny” was what she held dear to her heart. 

Christine was predeceased by her father, Ronald Richards and brother, Ronald Richards.  She is survived by her husband, Cono Turchio; three children, Melissa Yerger and her husband, Howard of Elmwood Park, Joseph Turchio and his wife, Gianna of Freehold, and Christopher Turchio of Freehold; six grandchildren, Mikayla, John Carlo, Julianna, Joseph, Jr., Emilia and Grayson; mother, Claire Richards; sister, Lisa DellaFera and her husband, Joseph; sister-in-law, Millie Richards; and nieces, nephews, and dear friends. 

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 9:30 AM for the procession to her 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold.  Interment will be private.  For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Freehold Area Open Door, 39 Throckmorton Street, P.O.
