Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Fonti

Elizabeth Ann Fonti, 87, of Freehold passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at The Jewish Home for Nursing & Rehabilitation, Freehold Township.  She was born and raised in Brooklyn and lived in Staten Island for a bit before settling in NJ.  Elizabeth dedicated her life to her family, and her greatest accomplishment was raising her seven children with unwavering love and dedication, and as a constant source of support.  Her love extended beyond her children to her sixteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Elizabeth cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren playing board games. In her free time, Elizabeth enjoyed playing cards and dominos, solving crossword puzzles and doing jigsaw puzzles and trips to Atlantic City.  She leaves behind a legacy of love, joy and cherished memories.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband of nearly 68 years, Robert Joseph Fonti in 2022.  She is survived by her seven children, Linda Fonti, Mary Elizabeth Sturchio and her husband, Rod, John Fonti, Lily McDonald, Robert Fonti and his wife, Lisa, Joseph Fonti and James Fonti and his wife, Melinda; sixteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three siblings, Dave Davis, Eddie Davis and Mary Schiazza; and sister-in-law, Josephine Murphy. 

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relative and friends are invited to attend her 10:30 AM Funeral Mass on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.  Interment will follow in Brigadier General Wm.
