Obituary of Frederick C. Hewes

Frederick Chester Hewes, 88, of Howell passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township.  He was born in Long Branch, raised and had lived in Freehold before settling here in 1960.  Frederick worked as a heavy equipment operator for the State of New Jersey for 48 years prior to retiring.  He was a simple man who enjoyed fishing when time allowed and spending time in his backyard which was his paradise. 

Frederick is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Shirley Hewes; daughters, Gail Bondarew of Howell, Shelley Mamuzich of Manchester, and Caroline Paulino and her husband, Rui of Jackson;  grandchildren, Nicholas Bondarew and his wife, Jennifer, Dawn Ruditsky and her husband, Kevin, Jennifer DeTullio and her husband, Michael, Jamie Mamuzich, John Mamuzich and his wife, Tara and Emily Paulino; and great grandchildren, Tyler, Alexander, Nicole, Hailey, Madison, Cristie, Lia and Alexa.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM funeral service at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.  Interment will follow in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent Road, Manalapan.  For information, directions or to leave condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
