Sheela, was a neighbor and a friend in our community. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who was so proud to share the accomplishments of her family. She was a wonderful storyteller and loved having an audience. She mesmerized the ladies the time she led a book discussion in a book about India. We all felt we had taken a journey to a faraway country. She was funny, feisty, talented and kind. She would buy us holiday gifts and want to feed us each time we stopped by to say hello. She was so appreciative of any small favor. She lived with constant pain and felt blessed to be alive. Her deep religious faith gave her comfort and peace for the future. We will miss her.
(PS She would call my daughter her Indian Mother)
