Obituary of Maryann Sambataro

Maryann Sambataro, 75, of Jackson passed away on Tuesday, February 6th, 2024, at her residence with her loving family surrounding her. She was born and raised in Staten Island and had lived in Manalapan, Freehold and Manchester before settling in Jackson.  She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, love, and cherished memories. She dedicated a significant portion of her life to her career as a Manager at Nordstrom, where she excelled and eventually retired in 2005. Her commitment and passion for her work were evident, and she was greatly respected by her colleagues. One of Maryann's greatest accomplishments in life was her role as a grandmother. She adored her grandchildren and took immens joy in watching them grow and thrive. Maryann's love for her family was unwavering, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Maryann had a wide range of interests and hobbies. She had a green thumb and found solace in gardening, creating beautiful landscapes that brought joy to her and others. Her talent for decorating was unmatched, and her home was always a reflection of her impeccable taste and style. Maryann's culinary skills were legendary, and she had a knack for cooking delicious meals that brought people together. Her Christmas Eve dinners were a cherished tradition, where friends and family gathered to enjoy her delectable creations and share in the holiday spirit. In her downtime, Maryann found pleasure in watching the beloved TV show Friends. The humor and camaraderie of the characters resonated with her, and she found comfort in their company. She also had a deep appreciation for the beach and could often be found lounging at her favorite tiki bar, soaking in the sun and enjoying the ocean breeze. Maryann will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love will forever be etched in the memories of those whose lives she touched. May she rest in peace, knowing that she left an indelible mark on the world and the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to call her a friend.

She is predeceased by her husband, Robert Sambataro; parents, Basil and Rita Aragona; brother, Joseph Aragona; and sisters-in-law, Patricia Negri and Charlene Simonson. Maryann is survived by her two children, Alison Cunningham and her husband, Christopher of Jackson and Robert Sambataro and his wife, Dana of Freehold; eight grandchildren, Nicole and her husband, James, Stephanie, Jake, Hope, Ryan, Robbie, Joey and William; one great granddaughter, Isabella James; brother, Anthony Aragona and his wife, Theresa; sisters-in-law, Sally Buccheri and her husband, John and Elizabeth Aragona and her husband, Jeff; and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:30 AM Memorial Mass on Friday, February 9th, 2024, at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.  All arrangements are under the direction of the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.
