Condolences
Dear Dorit & boys:
Walt was one on my all-time favorites. An accomplished engineer and supervisor, and a straight-shooter; one of the best. I consider it my very good fortune to have known and worked with him for years. Requiescat in pace, Walt

Dear Dorit and boys,
I was so saddened to see Walt's obituary in the Press. We had a long time great relationship at Ft. Monmouth and I ended up being his Deputy Director for the Microwave and signal Processing Devices Division. I think we had one of the best divisions in the Laboratory. We had a number of discussions about soccer and your boys great achievements in playing in high school and college. One of my boys played high school soccer as well. Dorit, I hope you are feeling well as I recall you had some medical issues as well. Unfortunately, my wife Joyce passed away last August but we both remembered visits to your home during the Christmas season. My best to you all during this difficult time. Ken Klohn
My wife Barbara and I are saddened to learn of Walt's passing, and we want to express to Dorit and the family our condolences, esteem, and love. Walt was a friend, advisor, and superior for many years, first as my Division Chief and later as Director of the Electronics and Power Sources Directorate of the Army Research Laboratory. He was singularly responsible for my promotion to management level and then appointment as his Deputy of the EPSD, for which I am forever grateful and honored. After retirement, we continued our association by working at General Technical Services in support of ARL.
Walt was a significant member and leader in the Microwave community and as a key person in the development of Microwave Monolithic Integrated Circuits (MMIC), which paved the way for efficient microwave/millimeter-wave devices for the Army and for civilian applications as well, for example MIMICs made it possible to use small-diameter dish antennas for satellite TV.
As a supervisor, he always fair and had his subordinate's interests at heart. He will be sorely missed by everyone with whom he had professional contact, both in the military and civilian aspects for microwave science and engineering.
God Bless.

Walt,
Thank you for your friendship and mentorship over many, many years. I would not have come to Ft. Monmouth without you, and I would not have grown there without your support. May God rest your soul in eternal peace.
