Obituary of Richard D. Ciavarro

Richard D. Ciavarro, 84, of Freehold Township, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township.   Richard was born, raised, and had lived in Newark.  He moved to Ontario, Canada for work before returning home to live and raise his family in Parlin.  Richard settled in the Silvermead Community, Freehold Township in 2015.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran during the Vietnam War.  Richard retired as a traffic manager at Penn Products and in retirement, was the owner of Mr. Moms Hot Dog Stand on Main Street in South Amboy and at the flea market in the Meadowlands.  A man of faith, he was a former parishioner of St. Bernadette's Parish, Parlin.  Richard’s life was filled with memorable moments, especially his trips to Atlantic City.  Yet, his greatest accomplishment in life was being a devoted husband, loving father, and adoring pop-pop to his grandchildren.  Richard cherished his time spent with them and always made sure to spoil them with love and affection.

Richard was predeceased by his daughter, Dawn Ciavarro; granddaughter, Faith; and five brothers.  He is survived by his wife, Beverly Ciavarro; four daughters, Renee Dolan and her husband, Robert, Brenda Whitfield and her husband, Steve, Denise Ciavarro and her husband, Robert Kurzman, and Adrienne Kellett and her husband, Kevin; four grandchildren, Evan Gibson and his wife, Jackie, Joseph Kellett and his wife, Kelly, Daniel Kellett, and Matthew Kellett; and a great granddaughter, Eliana.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, March 24, 2024 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 12:00 Noon funeral service on Monday, March 25, 2024 at the funeral home.  Entombment will follow in Marlboro Memorial Cemetery, Marlboro.   For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to Tunnels To Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 or HERE.  For information, directions or to leave condolence messages for the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
