Obituary of Stanley Schjong
Stanley Reidar "Stan" Schjong, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024, in Freehold, NJ. Stan was born to Reidar and Margrethe Schjong on March 25, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York. While Stan was a true Brooklynite, he loved spending time in the Pocono Mountains and at the beach.
In 1966, Stan married Terry Schjong, and raised their daughters, Stacey and Roselle.
Stan’s legacy is also carried on by his adored grandchildren: Alyssa and Cooper. Each of them will remember their grandfather for his sense of humor, love and support.
Earlier in Stan’s life, he served in the Army Reserves. As he got older, he enjoyed playing football with his Brooklyn buddies on Saturdays and played in a summer softball league for a decade. In recent years, Stan was an active member of his residential community, playing billiards, bocce and cornhole with his friends.
Predeceased by his parents, Stan’s memory is honored and kept alive by his loving wife Terry, his children, his cherished grandchildren and his nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, March 29, 2024 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM funeral service on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
