Obituary of Marie R. Marshall
Marie R. Marshall, 85, of Freehold Township passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in Woodbridge. She was born in Limerick, Ireland where she was one of thirteen children. Marie came to the United States in 1970 and had lived in Staten Island, Lakewood, and Freehold Borough before settling in Freehold Township. She had a passion for caring for others throughout her life. Marie worked as a nursing aide for many years at the Carmel Richmond Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Staten Island. She had a passion for being creative and spent her free time knitting, crocheting, sewing, and making wreaths with her family. A woman of faith, she was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church in Freehold for many years. She relished her time attending plays, concerts, and making day trips to New York City. Yet Marie was never prouder than being called “momma” by those who loved her.
Marie is predeceased by her daughters, Gail and Angela; granddaughter, Erin; son-in-law, Marc and her dog, Winston. She is survived by her daughters, Pauline Myers of Albany, NY, twins, Andrea Bonamassa and her husband, Nicholas of Forked River, and Tanya Lowy of Freehold; seven grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
A memorial gathering will be held at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM with her memorial service immediately to follow at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marie’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
