Obituary of Louis Mario Panico Sr.
Louis Mario Panico, Sr., 84, of Egg Harbor Township passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2024. He was born in Castello di Cisterna, Italy and lived in Freehold until 2015 when he relocated to Egg Harbor Township to be closer to his children. Louis graduated with a Master of Arts in 1968 from Villanova University. He became a citizen of the United States in 1974, taking on a career as a guidance counselor at Matawan-Aberdeen Regional High School for many years before retiring. He was a man of few words but innumerable excellent attributes; he will be remembered for his strong will, generosity, empathy, kind heart, and undying love for his family. Louis loved to travel; he paid regular visits to his family in Italy and enjoyed reminiscing about his trip to Africa in the late ‘70s. He made sure to make birthdays and holidays special for everyone he loved. Louis took the most joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. More than anything, he treasured sipping espresso and snacking on an almond biscotti in the company of his beloved family.
He was predeceased by his wife of 17 years, Lucille, in 1999; son, Andrew Panico, in 2024; and brothers Michael and Vincent Panico. Louis is survived by his daughter, Maria McCann and her husband, Matt of Egg Harbor Township; sons, Louis Panico, Jr. and his wife, Nicole of Linwood, Chris Errickson and his wife, Krisann of Jackson and Robert Errickson and his wife, Tonya of Etna, ME; grandchildren, Jackson, Alison, Logan, Lukas, Jessica, Kenny, Christopher, Alyson, Creed, and Alec; many great-grandchildren; and sister, Irene Panico.
