Obituary of John Carnera
John Carnera, 72, of Howell Township passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024 at his home. John was born in Newark and was raised in Nutley, New Jersey by his parents Severino and Mary Carnera (Cola). He moved to Howell in 1988. John retired as the Depot Manager for Hermann Trucking in New Brunswick. Prior to that, he co-owned Simcar Enterprises. Simcar Enterprises operated four flower shops, April Showers, Holmdel, May Flowers, Hazlet, Raining Violets, Eatontown and April Showers Too in the Monmouth Mall. His green thumb flowed over to his countless hours in his vegetable and flower gardens and meticulously landscaping his lawn. John relished his time tinkering and always had the right tool for the job if not two. John was not a fan of travel, but would drive up and down the 95 corridor every month visiting his daughter no matter where she moved to. He also often visited his sister, brother-in-law, and niece and her family in Florida. However, if the weather was nice, John could be found fishing on some secluded lake he discovered or out on the golf course.
John was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Joe Simplicio. He is survived by his daughter, Victoria Carnera-De La Hoz and his son-in-law, Renzo; his sister, Joan Simplicio; niece, Angela Simplicio and her husband, Nick Peterson; great niece, Skyler; great nephew, Aiden; and his childhood friend, Bill Purpura.
