Obituary of Christopher J. Capretta
Christopher J. Capretta, 56, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with ALS on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Chris was born in Brooklyn, raised in South Beach, relocated to Oakwood, and then settled in Freehold, New Jersey in 2004. He was a graduate of the DeVry Institute of Technology and worked as a network engineer for A T & T in Holmdel for the past 25 years. Chris was a coach for his children’s soccer, football and baseball teams and was a passionate NY Jets and Yankee fan. He relished his time on the golf course. Chris also enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, with his friends, where he played craps and the Buffalo slot machines. He enjoyed riding in his custom-built Chevrolet Corvette Stingray as well as vacationing every year with family and friends. Chris believed in food, friends, and family. He never asked for help but was the first one out the door to help someone else.
Chris was predeceased by his parents, Steven and Frances Capretta; a brother, Stephen Capretta; and his nephew, Jeffrey Capretta. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Maria (nee Hanson) Capretta; his three children, Devin Capretta, Teresa Capretta, and Jennifer Capretta; siblings, Jeffery Capretta and his wife, Camille, Peter Capretta and Frances Stern and her husband, Matthew; his nieces and nephews, Joseph Capretta, Julianne Capretta, Peter Capretta, Anthony Capretta, Jonathan Capretta, Zachary Stern, Jacqueline Stern, and Jason Stern; and many dear friends.
