Obituary of Irina Koorbanoff
On May 1st, 2024, Irina Grigorievna (Lyashenko) Koorbanoff took her last breath surrounded by loved ones before passing away. Irina was born in Cherkesk, Russia on June 7th, 1960. In Irina’s early life she graduated university in Leningrad and had a remarkable career working in aircraft instrumentation and space technologies.
In the early 2000s, her experience led her to be able to participate in various international projects related to the implementation of foreign technologies in Soviet and post-Soviet spacecrafts. It was one of these coordinated projects that brought her and her beloved husband, Alex Koorbanoff together.
Irina and Alex continued their life together in the snowy Russian Ural Mountains for over 10 years before leaving the cold to come to the U.S. where they were dedicated to assisting students from post-Soviet states to attend and adapt to the American schools and universities.
Irina is succeeded by eight god-children, her beloved dog Oliver, and was a host mother to over twenty kids from all around the world. She will be remembered for her love, friendship, kindness, and loyalty.
