Thomas Zummo

Obituary of Thomas Zummo

Thomas G. Zummo, 66, of Howell Township passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, May 18, 2024.  Tom was born and raised in the Bronx.  He had lived in Yonkers before moving to Howell Township in 1987 to raise his family.  Tom retired from J.P. Morgan/Chase Bank in 2021 with over forty years of dedicated service.

Tom was selfless with the patience of a saint.  He always wanted everyone to be comfortable and have a good time.  He would do anything for anyone, especially his family and friends.  He took joy in taking the burden off others even if it meant burdening himself.  He never asked or wanted anything. Whatever made those closest to him happy, made him happy.

His joy in life was the joy in his wife, daughter, son and grandchildren. Disney World will always hold a special place in the family’s heart, it’s where some of their best memories were made on vacations.

Tom wasn’t just a Marvel fan, he bled superhero serum. He passed that love of Marvel comics on to his daughter and son. You would often find them watching new movies and shows together.

Tom was predeceased by his brother, Fred Zummo.  He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gail Zummo; two children, Kristin Estremera and her husband, Jeffrey of Hoboken and Joseph Zummo and his wife, Christina of Colts Neck; three grandchildren, Lionel, Louisa, and Lola; a sister, Evelyn Cruz and her husband, Dennis; brother, William Palmer; brother-in-law, Glenn Macaluso and his wife, Marianne; nieces and nephews, Sara, Paul, Lynda, Debbie, Joseph, Dennis and Tifany; and his dear friends, Sam and Amy Sloane and their children, Zoey, Noah, Ethan, Lukas, and Nate.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 9:30 AM for the procession to his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township, NJ 07728.  Interment will be private.  For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Co-Cathedral.  For information, directions or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
