Obituary of Mary Lou (Winsper) McGettigan

Mary Lou (Winsper) McGettigan, 88, of Freehold passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Lincroft. She was born in Middletown, NY, lived in East Orange, NJ, and settled in Freehold 27 years ago. Mary loved to spend time outside and tend to her yard and garden, taking great pride in its appearance. She took many trips to Ireland and other countries. Mary got to experience traveling with her late husband, James, and cherished the memories they made.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James Daniel McGettigan. Mary is survived by her step-children, James Daniel McGettigan, Donna Lee Ciccone and her husband, John, and Richard Marshall McGettigan; sister-in-law, Liz Sass; canine companion, Sweetie Pie; cousin, Kathy Barrett; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 9:00 to 9:30 AM with her funeral service to begin at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Arneytown.
