Obituary of Carlos Maldonado

With our hearts wholly broken, we announce the passing of Carlos Maldonado, also affectionately known by his grandchildren as “Welo.”  He left us unexpectedly on June 7th, 2024 and we already miss him dearly.

Carlos was the heart of his family… a source of light and joy and wisdom.  He was a selfless soul – always willing to help anyone in need.  And his presence was a gift to all who knew him – either as fast friends or passing by with a wave and a radiating smile on the baseball fields in Jackson. 

Carlos loved his Mets and Giants, playing dominoes, dancing salsa, being silly, baseball in the yard, cornhole competitions with his grandkids, a nice bottle of wine, Atlantic City, pasteles, meatball parm on Thursdays, and most of all laughter.  Oh, how he made us laugh! 

Carlos will be deeply mourned by his four children – Carl, Raína, Stephanie and Denise, their mother Dorish, son-in-law Richie, and six incredible grandchildren - Anthony, Jovani, Sean, Angelina, Carl Jr., and Emilio.  His amazing sister, brother-in-law and brothers, Godchildren, nieces and nephews adored him completely.   Oh, how he was loved!

Donations, in honor of his great love for God, are welcome to Uproar Church, Carlos’ church home where he was baptized in 2017. 

Visitation for Carlos Maldonado will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township.  A 9:00 AM Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at the funeral home.  Interment will be private. For information, directions, or to leave condolence messages to the family, please visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
