Obituary of Silvio L. Lozano

Silvio L. Lozano, 88, of Howell passed away at home on Friday, July 5, 2024.  Silvio was born and raised in Ecuador where he completed his seminary studies and became a Catholic priest. Later in life he received a special papal dispensation and left the priesthood to immigrate to the United States and lived in Long Branch, NJ before settling in Howell in 1988.  Silvio attended Monmouth University where he received his BSW and continued his education at Rutgers University where he earned his Master’s in Clinical Social Work.  He worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker,  Director of Hispanic Affairs and as a Program Coordinator for the Monmouth County Board of Social Services for 30 years. Silvio dedicated his life to the Catholic Church in numerous endeavors and was a former parishioner of St. Anthony in Lakewood and a parishioner of the Church of St. Veronica in Howell.  A tireless volunteer, Silvio was dedicated to giving back to his community. He was most joyful among his family as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  His absence has left a tremendous void as he was most dedicated to the role of family man, their pillar and patriarch.

He was predeceased by his parents, Segundo Virgilio and Maria Lozano.  Silvio is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Pastoriza Irene Lozano; children, Shirley Lozano-Nelson and her husband, Christopher, Cynthia Lozano and her fiancé, Daniel Kollar, and Bryan Lozano and his wife, Nicole; grandchildren, Alexander, Leah, Juliana and Katrina; the Andrade Lozano family; the Lozano Bermeo family; the Lozano Bernal family; the Lozano Hidalgo family; the Aguiar Lozano family; the Lozano Serrano family; the Lozano Aguiar family; and the Lozano Puertas y Lozano Pineda family.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, July 8, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM Funeral Mass on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at the Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell.  For those that cannot attend in person, the family invites you to participate via Webcast, HERE.
