Obituary of Ethel I. Barry
Ethel Winwood Barry (Ekis), 91, of Jackson, NJ, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, and Sebastian, FL, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2024. She was preceded in death by her devoted husbands, George E. Winwood, and Ambrose C. Barry.
Born on July 4, 1933, in Pittsburgh, Ethel dedicated her life to caring for others, both through her professional career as a compassionate nurse and in her personal life as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ethel's nurturing spirit was evident to all who knew her. She touched many lives with her kindness and generosity.
Ethel was a long-standing member of Mifflin Avenue United Methodist Church in Pittsburgh, PA, and Roseland Methodist Church in Sebastian, FL. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and commitments.
Ethel enjoyed traveling. One of her favorite destinations included Ocean City, NJ, where she made countless memories with her family and friends. She also traveled to the Grand Canyon, Alaska, Hawaii, and the Pacific Northwest. She was a passionate supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers. She loved her dogs including several Airedale Terriers (no matter what they destroyed) and her Golden Retriever.
Ethel is survived by her loving children, Mark Winwood, Matthew (Kimberly) Winwood, and Audrey (Ralph) Mercuro. Her legacy of love and devotion lives on through her family and friends, who will remember her as a guiding light and a source of unconditional support. Her spirit will continue to inspire those she loved.
