Obituary of Anthoula H. Alexiou

Anthoula Alexiou, 87, of Freehold Township passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at her residence. She was born and raised in Ikaria, Greece and had lived in Linden before settling to Freehold in 2017. Anthoula was a dedicated homemaker; her life was filled with selflessness and love for others. Anthoula was known for always putting the needs of her family and friends first, embodying qualities of care, love, and kindness. Her greatest accomplishment in life was raising her children and grandchildren with unwavering love and support. Her family was her pride and joy, and she found immense happiness in caring for and nurturing them throughout her life. Anthoula enjoyed tending to her beloved fig trees and flowers in the garden and cooking delicious meals for her loved ones. Her passion for gardening and cooking brought joy to those around her and created lasting memories for her family.

Anthoula is predeceased by her parents, Nikolaos and Marianthe Sakoutis; husband, Haralambos A. Alexiou; siblings, Kalliope Mastorakis and Vasilios Sakoutis. She is survived by her two children, Vasiliki Inguaggiato and Alex Alexiou; three grandchildren, Joseph, Christian and Ryan; four sisters, Stamatoula Koutsouflakis, Artemis Piroudis, Danae Angelopoulos, Argyro Sirigga; brother, John Sakoutis; many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A visitation will be held at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 AM funeral service on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, 20 Hillcrest Road, Holmdel.  Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, 169 West Main Street, Freehold Township.  For information, directions, or to leave condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com.
