Obituary of Phyllis Fortune
Phyllis Fortune, 79, of Freehold passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York where she lived until her retirement. Phyllis then moved to Staten Island in 2011 before settling in Freehold in 2024. She worked for over 20 years as a Library Clerk at the Brooklyn Public Library, a job she truly loved, and met countless people there. Phyllis enjoyed quality time with her friends, watching her tv shows, and crocheting. She was a dedicated grandma to all her grandchildren, making sure to always be present. Phyllis will be remembered for her amazing cooking and baking skills, and her ability to always show up with a bundt cake.
She was predeceased by her parents, James and Angelina Arrigo; Phyllis is survived by her children, Thomas Fortune and his wife, Debbie, Steven Fortune, Jennifer Ironside and her husband, Christopher, and Christina Belmonte and her husband, Thomas; grandchildren, Nicole, Jack, Ryan, Julianna, Thomas, and Daniella; and brother, Jimmy Arrigo.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:30 AM Funeral Mass on Friday, September 6, 2024 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
