Obituary of Vincent "Jimmy" Liali
Vincent “Jimmy” Liali, 93, of Freehold passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in New York City, raised in Sicily, and had lived in Brooklyn before settling in Freehold in 1992. Vincent worked at GrayBar Barber Shop in New York City for many years. He was a parishioner of the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine. He and his wife Julia were very active in the Surrey Down’s Community since moving in, participating in many events. Vincent was the winning men’s single shuffleboard champion in 1999. He spent many hours at the Freehold Senior Center, relished his time at the Freehold Raceway, and was a former member of the Licodia Social Club. He was a long time Mets fan, played cards frequently with everyone everywhere, and was a true soccer fan, especially of the Italian National team, and LaLiga.
He was predeceased by his wife, Julia Liali; son, Paul Liali; and sisters, Frances and Josie. Vincent is survived by his daughters, Concetta “Connie” Natale of Red Bank, Theresa Welsher and her husband, Paul of Monroe, and Joanne Rofrano and her husband, Joseph of Old Bridge; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Vincenza Giordanella of Brooklyn; and sister-in-law, Anne Romanelli of South Abington, PA.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, September 6, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Funeral Home on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 9:30 AM for the procession to his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Entombment will follow in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum, 549 Newman Springs Road, Marlboro.
