Obituary of Paul D. Franson
Paul D. Franson, 77, of Pennington passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Born and raised in Connecticut, Paul later relocated to New Jersey, first settling in Flemington before moving to Pennington in 2020.
A proud United States Army veteran, Paul served in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1972. He was a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, and enjoyed a long career in the IT department at Johnson & Johnson before retiring.
In his earlier years, Paul was an avid cyclist and a dedicated member of the Kingwood Township Volunteer Fire Company #1. His hobbies included a lifelong passion for model trains, with an extensive setup in his basement. Above all, Paul was a dedicated amateur radio enthusiast since the age of 12, known by his handle, W2LE. He was an active member and former secretary of the North Jersey DX Association, where he shared his love for the hobby with many.
Paul was predeceased by his wife, Elsie in 2023. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Jennifer Friend-Huizer and her husband, Robert Huizer and grandchildren, Rebecca and Ian.
A graveside service will be held at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Arneytown on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM under the direction of Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.
