Obituary of Theresa Casares
Theresa Casares, 90, of Howell passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at home. Theresa was born, raised, and had lived in Brooklyn. She then lived in Concord section of Staten Island, Porter, TX, and Brick before moving to Howell in 2018. Theresa had worked as a crossing guard in Staten Island, a retail associate at Kmart, Brick and retired as teller for Community Bank, Freehold. A woman of faith, she was a former parishioner of St. Dominick’s Catholic Church in Brick and most recently a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Farmingdale. Along with her husband, they relished their time in Upstate New York in the summers, taking cruises, and family reunions. While living in the Greenbriar Community in Brick, they were the definition of an active adult lifestyle and also were members of the Ocean County Democratic Party. Yet spending time with family was the only thing that truly mattered to her.
Theresa was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; her son, Philip; and three brothers, Barney Vizzo, Rocco Vizzo, and Vincent Vizzo. She is survived by her children, Margaret Coppotelli and her husband, Donald of Howell and Joseph C. Casares, Jr. and his fiancée, Terry Pomeroy; five grandchildren, James Coppotelli and his wife, Christina, Donald Coppotelli Jr., John Coppotelli, April Nicole Grossi and her husband, Robert, and Anthony Thomas Casares; five great grandchildren, Gianna, James Jr., Ariana, Luca, and Isabella; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friend are invited to gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 9:00 AM for the procession to her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 31 Asbury Road, Farmingdale, NJ. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Staten Island.
