Seema Khan

Obituary of Seema Khan

Seema (Maike Gabriele Edith) Khan, 74, of Spotswood, New Jersey, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Born in Göttingen, Germany on July 10th, 1950 as the 4th of 9 children. Her early years were spent in Göttingen and Bielefeld before the family settled in Dortmund-Aplerbeck in 1956. There she graduated from high school and pursued her passion for education, studying to become a primary school teacher in Dortmund-Hörde.

Music was a constant presence in Seema's life. From a young age, she took piano lessons, played guitar, and sang in the church choir following her confirmation. Even as a young girl, Seema dreamed of exploring the world beyond Germany, a dream she would later fulfill. Known for her strong spirit, vibrant personality, and compassionate heart, Seema was a beloved member of her family.

In 1985, Seema embarked on a new adventure, moving to the United States. She first lived in Galveston, Texas, before ultimately making New Jersey her home. Affectionately known as "Charming Maike" by some, Seema found joy in sharing her musical gifts as a piano teacher. A devoted mother to her son, Zeeshan, she also embraced life to the fullest, forging friendships through pickleball and various meet-up groups. She had a passion for the arts, particularly dancing and painting, and cherished the time spent with her granddog Mellie, with whom she shared many loving adventures as "Nanny Biscuits."

Seema was predeceased by her parents, Edith and Horst Ulrich, and her faithful canine companion, Daisy. She is survived by her son, Zeeshan Khan, and his wife, Brittany; her siblings, Helge, Birge, Ulf, Silke, Eick, Inse, Arne, and Wibke; her grandniece, Brenna; and many loving nieces and nephews.

All arrangements are private and under the direction of the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, with details to be shared with loved ones. In the meantime, condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.claytonfuneralhome.com
