Obituary of Charles W. Woolley
Charles W. Woolley, 87, of the Squankum section of Howell Township passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Serenity Gardens, Brick. Shorty was born on Apple Street in Lakewood at his grandparents’ home. He was raised on the family farm on Maxim Road as the eighth child of ten children of Robert Leon and Marjorie (nee Estelle) Woolley. Shorty was a 1956 graduate of Lakewood High School. Upon marrying Mary Lou Megill in 1956, they moved to Squankum and began farming the land, now known as Woolley Farms. Shorty retired as the General Supervisor for the Monmouth County Highway Department in 1996 after forty years of dedicated service. He was a member of Squankum United Methodist Church.
Shorty was predeceased by his parents, Robert Leon and Marjorie Woolley; his wife, Mary Lou Woolley; four brothers, Calvin, Robert, Jr., Norman, and Kenneth, Sr.; and five sisters, Virginia Shibla, Wanda Carlson, Annaka Mandel, Jane Horner, and Doris Rapp. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Lou Woolley; his girlfriend, Diana Broskey; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM Funeral Service at the funeral home on Thursday, October 10, 2024. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale.
