Obituary of John Ialeggio
John Ialeggio, 93, of Freehold Township passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at his residence. He was born, raised and married in San Marco dei Cavoti, Italy and moved to the United States in 1959. John was a beloved barber for over 60 years, owning his own shop, Style Barber Shop, in Freehold. He was a skilled craftsman and had an engineering type of mind, always creating and building things with his hands. John was known for his unwavering dedication to his family. He always made time to lend a helping hand to others and was a pillar of support for those in need. John was a great storyteller, sharing his adventures and wisdom with all who knew him. He had a love for traveling, fishing, gardening, and landscape design, hobbies that brought him immense joy throughout his life. One of John's favorite pastimes in his later years was enjoying wine nights with his close friends, George and Mike, every Monday and Wednesday at 7:00 PM. These gatherings were a highlight of his week and brought him great joy.
John was predeceased by his brothers, Orazio Ialeggio, Marco Ialeggio and Giuseppe Ialeggio; and sons-in-law, Charles Wetherell and Robert DeFalco. He is survived by his three daughters, Susan Wetherell of Point Pleasant, Lydia Rosenberg and her husband, Michael of Westfield, and Lori DeFalco of Point Pleasant; grandchildren, Allison Wetherell, Dean DeFalco, Elizabeth Rosenberg, John Rosenberg, and Devin Pedersen; brothers, Michael Ialeggio and his wife, Antoninetta and Pellegrino and his wife, Maria Pia; sister In law, Filomena Paolucci and her husband, Anthony of Freehold; and nieces and nephews, Peter Paolucci, Libby DeChiaro and her husband Steven, Anthony Paolucci, and Christian DeChiaro.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, November 8,2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, 299 Freehold-Englishtown Road, Freehold Township.
