Obituary of Lorraine G. Smith
Lorraine G. Smith, 83, of Howell Township passed away peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Bella Terra in Jackson. Lorraine was born in Cliffside Park and was raised and had lived in the Morganville section of Marlboro. She raised her family in Morganville until she settled in Howell. She was a school bus driver (mainly for the M.A.S.T. students) for the Freehold Regional High School District for many years until her retirement. Lorraine was a true artist who found joy in the world of arts, crafts, and the intricate craft of creating decoy ducks. She shared her passion by teaching decorative painting and ceramics, leaving a lasting impact on her students. Lorraine was also an active member of The Historic Village at Allaire, where she contributed as a skilled quilter. This interactive museum allowed visitors to engage with history through immersive, hands-on experiences.
Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Sue Carol Stagaitis; her husband, Edward; and her brother, James Stagaitis. She is survived by her children, Charlotte Hermansen and Eric of Florida and Ed Smith and his wife, Cindy of Howell; four grandchildren, Kirstin Weintraub, Steven Hermansen, Kristin Ajar, and Kelli Gamache; and four great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 AM graveside service on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.
