Obituary of Michael C. Vlachos

Michael C. Vlachos, 80, of Glen Ridge passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at home surrounded by his wife and son.  Michael was born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens and had lived in Chestnut Hill Ridge, NY before settling in Glen Ridge in 1992.  He retired as a technical writer for Sharp Electronics in Mahwah.  Michael was a computer buff and relished his time with the written word.  A man of true faith, he was a former parishioner, reader and member of the church council as the treasurer at Christ the Saviour Orthodox Church, Paramus.  Most recently, Michael was a devoted member and reader at St. Alexander Nevsky R.O. Cathedral, Howell.

Michael was predeceased by his brothers, Paul Vlachos and George Vlachos.  He is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Lidia Zemlanicky; his son, Alexander Vlachos; brothers, John Vlachos and Thomas Vlachos; and his sister, Helen Vlachos.

Pannyhida will be held at St. Alexander Nevsky R.O. Cathedral, 200 Alexander Avenue, Howell on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 4:20 PM and Sunday, December 29, 2024 at 12:00 Noon.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend Liturgy at the Cathedral on Monday, December 30, 2024 at 9:00 AM followed by his 11:00 AM Funeral Service.  Interment will be St. Vladimir’s R.O.
