Obituary of Rosario Salvaggio
Rosario "Sal" Salvaggio, 85, of Freehold passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Wedgewood Gardens, Freehold Twp. Sal was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and had raised his family in Marlboro Twp. before retiring in Manchester then moving to Freehold in 2007. He was a U.S. Army Combat Veteran serving in the Korean War. Sal retired as the purchasing agent for Moore & McCormack Lines, Brooklyn after thirty-eight years in 1986. He was a parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Freehold Twp.
Sal was predeceased by his wife, Josephine "Josie" Salvaggio; a brother, John Salvaggio; and two sisters, Vita Mastrella and Angie Scotti. He is survived by four sons, Anthony Salvaggio and his wife, Kathleen of Jackson, Joseph Salvaggio and his wife, Kim of Tomball, TX, John Salvaggio of Brooklyn, and Salvatore Salvaggio and his wife, Kim of New York City, NY; a daughter, Rose Di Lorenzo and her husband, Chester of Freehold Twp.; seven grandchildren, Tracey Anne Roussea and her husband, Michael, Eric Linzmayer and his wife, Candace, Joseph Salvaggio, Gregory Salvaggio, Jake Salvaggio, Lauren Di Lorenzo, and Samantha Di Lorenzo; two great grandchildren, Michael James Roussea and Kayla Anne Roussea; many nieces and nephews; and his companion, Rose "Lovey" Aquilano.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 9:00 AM for the Procession to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township for his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass.
