Condolences
Dear Grace, Joyce, John, John & Jeff Pete was a wonderful husband, father, man and he lives on in all your hearts and minds. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Sue & Ariana
In 1995 I was looking for a sailing club for Model Sailboats and the local hobby shop told me about the Marbleheaders of Spring Lake.
I went over to see the action and met "Pete Peterson".
Pete sat down on the bench with me and we talked about his model boats and I explained that I was interested in sailing as my grandfather had a sailboat years ago. I had sailed with my grandfather when you could only set the sails and hope for the boat to make it to the other side.
We talked about Warinanco, NJ and places in Staten Island where pond sailing was being done. I described my grandfather to Pete and he said "I can tell you your grandfathers name". He said "Mr. Brassington".
I was floored. After almost 55 years Pete was able to remember my grandfather's name.
It turned out that Pete's father and my grandfather were best sailing friends.
Pete said come to the next club meeting and I will give you 2 pictures of your grandfather and he did.
Pete had me sailing one of his Vintage Marbleheads within a week.
We spent some wonderful years sailing on Spring Lake with Pete and Grace his support team.
For the many sailors that are into Model Sailing - THANK YOU "PETE".

Dear Grace and family, I am aggrieved with you at this time. Pete was a wonderful man, husband, father and friend. I will always remember his whistling along with our hymns in church and his humor at board meetings. I am certain he is with our Father in Heaven now because of his BIG faith and that should be a comfort to you. He will certainly be missed by our congregation and me. Love to you Grace, for the wonderful care you always took of Pete and everyone around you. You are truly a blessing to us. My prayers are with you and your family. Warmly, Cathy Waite
West Belmar has lost a very special man. I pray God's strength & comfort will be with you all during this very difficult time!
Pete was truly a member of the greatest generation. His love of his family and friends, his service to this country and his never faultering faith in God leaves an indelible glory for all of us to strive for. Pete's dedication to boating friends and ever designing improvements of the many hulls he built gives a lasting memorial to a great man and friend. I will miss him.
We were sorry to hear about the passing of your father. We send to you and your family our deepest sympathy.
We are sad to hear about the loss of your father. We know you have many wonderful memories to keep him alive in your hearts. Our love, Carol and Wendell

We were so sorry to hear of Pete's passing. I will miss having him bring his latest model to my loft. He was always excited to show me the changes and to get it in the water and see how his latest idea's worked. I really enjoyed talking to him about his earlier days as a boat builder and in particular some memories he had of ice boating at the NSIB&YC. He was a true gentleman.
